Overview: Some employees pose special challenges. There will always be problems and problem employees in any workplace and a manager has to learn sooner, rather than later, how to not only manage them but to minimize their effect on the organization and other employees as well.

Managers also need learn how to recognize when HR needs to be called in and what information needs to be provided.

Employers have a number of tools at their disposal to help their employees function at top capacity. Yet for both top performers, low performers and everyone in between its important to have applicable, accurate, clear, consistent records.

This webinar will cover how to assess problem situations, know when to involve HR and manage complaining employees.

Why should you attend: Employee problems easily morph into compliance and legal challenges and often with lighting speed while the manager is still trying to get a handle on problematic situations. Many managers have never been trained in even the rudimentary basics of employment law and don't recognize problem situations or their resultant pitfalls. This problem is magnified when managers don't know how to handle such problems as bullying, and even recognizing and knowing how to handle harassment and workplace misconduct. Compounding the issues are that performance problems, disability claims and other protected activity often muddy the waters or enter midstream into the fact-finding process. The final straw is such problems are often affected by long-term dissatisfactions, high emotions, and drama that can influence the recollections of facts of such situations. Managers also need to avoid triggering retaliation claims in problematic situations. The manager has to effectively manage the employee's performance through this storm without compounding the problem or creating (or magnifying) a legal risk. It's a lot to ask of anyone but especially an untrained manager.
